What is the difference between a pentatonic scale and blues?

Auditions for jazz band at my school! I had originally thought the blues and pentatonic scales are the same, but the event, said she had to play a chromatic scale, a major, a blues, and a pentatonic scale. Help?

Pentatonic blues is almost, but an additional note a half step sharp III. So if you are in the key C pentatonic: C, D #, F, G, A, C #, but if it is a blues scale, which will go well: C, D #, F, F #, G # A fun, C a little more. Good luck.
